For Steph

Psalm 121
A song of ascents

I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from?

My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber;

indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD watches over you—the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

The LORD will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life;

the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Steph is a friend, yes, another friend, who is asked to venture to the edge of eternity with a dying loved one. Sending you love, dear Steph.

Lord, have mercy!

what a wonderful photo. I pray that psalm as part of morning prayers and I've often thought it was a comforting psalm about death.

Hi Diane--

I have been chipping away at reading back, back, back through what I have missed in the past year, probably! When did you open the comments? I won't stop till I get there, at least!

I had to comment on this to ask HOW DO YOU KNOW Steph? What a small world! We've only met IRL once, and then she moved farther away. But when we first moved to WI, someone told her to look me up, since we are both Anglican priest's wives, and we had a great time! (I also met Donna Boucher, who had come to hear Jill Briscoe at Steph's church at the time!)

Also, I am pleased to see that you read Island of the World, and that Carole and someone else liked it. I reviewed it in '09--loved it--but have not run in to too many others who've read it. One friend just couldn't finish--too painful.

Well, now that I'm leaving this comment, I think I will email the same thing to you, just so you can answer me that way, because I don't know if I'll be able to find this post again if I keep on reading!

Blessings--

Jeanne
