A little belated birthday wish...

As someone whose blog is named after a Madeleine L'Engle book and whose Friday feature is C.S. Lewis quotes, I should have remembered that November 29th is the birthday of L'Engle, Lewis AND Louisa May Alcott.  I forgot, but thanks to Semicolon I was brought back to my senses.

In celebration of this trio of birthdays, I will do the meme that Carol posted in 2007:

The November 29 Birthday Meme (several days late)
(Louisa May Alcott, C.S. Lewis, Madeleine L'Engle)
Answer for one, both, or all authors.

1. What was the first [Alcott, Lewis, L'Engle] book you read?

L'Engle:  Fiction.  But it was close.

Lewis:  Narnia and Mere Christianity
L'Engle:  The Crosswicks Journals (of which A Circle of Quiet is one.)

5.  Which [Alcott, Lewis, L'Engle] book did you dislike?

Alcott:  The Inheritance (although the  movie is one of my favorites.)

Alcott:  "Stay" is a charming word in a friend's vocabulary.
Lewis: See Fridays. I don't think I could choose one.
L'Engle: "If I sit for a while, then my impatience, crossness, frustration, are indeed annihilated, and my sense of humor returns." From A Circle of Quiet

7.  Which [Alcott, Lewis, L'Engle] book would you like to read next?

Alcott:  Jack and Jill
Lewis:  The Abolition of Man
L'Engle: The Twenty-four Days Before Christmas

8.  What biography of [Alcott, Lewis, L'Engle] would you recommend?

Alcott:  none to recommend
Lewis:  C.S.Lewis: A Biography
L'Engle:  A Circle of Friends: Remembering Madeleine L'Engle (second edition) (I have not read this, but I think it sounds great so I am linking it.)

9. Rate the ALL authors by order of preference

3. Alcott

Di, I forgot too! I used to get Garrison Keillor's Writer's Almanac in the email box every morning, but it stopped coming.

I love your choices.

Happy Friday, Di!

Alcott did leave a lot of letters and journals.

I think it would be fun to re-read Meet the Austens this Christmas. I have actually been thinking about Lengle recently.
