A little belated birthday wish...

As someone whose blog is named after a Madeleine L'Engle book and whose Friday feature is C.S. Lewis quotes, I should have remembered that November 29th is the birthday of L'Engle, Lewis AND Louisa May Alcott.  I forgot, but thanks to Semicolon I was brought back to my senses.

In celebration of this trio of birthdays, I will do the meme that Carol posted in 2007:

Alcott:  Little Women
Lewis:  The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
L'Engle:  The Summer of the Great-Grandmother (this was the first book assigned in my first Gerontology class.  What a memory.)

2.  If you could be a [Alcott, Lewis, L'Engle] character for a day, who would you be?

Alcott:  Marmie - such wisdom
Lewis:   Lucy - such faith
L'Engle:  Meg Murry from A Wrinkle in Time

3.  Do you prefer [Alcott?, Lewis, L'Engle]'s fiction or nonfiction?

Alcott:  I've only read her fiction.  Does she have non-fiction?
Lewis:  It's a toss up.  I love Narnia, but Mere Christianity...how do I choose?
L'Engle:  Fiction.  But it was close.

4.  Which [Alcott, Lewis, L'Engle] book would you recommend to any reader?

Alcott:  Jo's Boys.  We have fond memories of reading this out loud.  Appeals to boys and girls and to adults.
Lewis:  Narnia and Mere Christianity
L'Engle:  The Crosswicks Journals (of which A Circle of Quiet is one.)

5.  Which [Alcott, Lewis, L'Engle] book did you dislike?

Alcott:  The Inheritance (although the  movie is one of my favorites.)
Lewis:  I am not a fan of his space trilogy
L'Engle:  Certain Women

6.  What is your favorite [Alcott, Lewis, L'Engle] quote?

Alcott:  "Stay" is a charming word in a friend's vocabulary.
Lewis: See Fridays. I don't think I could choose one.
